Using Text Diff Checker

See exactly which lines changed between two versions of a config file, contract clause, translation or code snippet before you accept the edit.

How to use it

1. Paste the older version into Original Text.
2. Paste the newer version into Modified Text.
3. Click Compare Texts. Removed lines are marked in red and added lines in green, with unchanged lines left plain for context.
4. Read each removal next to the addition that replaced it, then use Copy to take the report, or Clear to compare something else.

Worked example

Input and settings

Original: timeout = 30 / retries = 3 Modified: timeout = 60 / retries = 3

Expected result

"timeout = 30" marked removed, "timeout = 60" marked added, "retries = 3" unchanged.

Limits and common mistakes

• Comparison is line by line: changing one word marks the whole line as removed and re-added, so look closely at long lines.
• Trailing spaces and Windows versus Unix line endings count as differences even when the text looks identical.
• The output is a report for reading; it cannot merge the two versions or produce a patch file.
• Two pieces of code can behave identically and still differ here, or differ subtly in behavior while looking almost the same.
