🔗 URL Encoder / Decoder
Encode text components for URL query strings or decode percent-encoded URLs.
Using URL Encoder / Decoder
Percent-encode a value before putting it into a query string, or decode a messy tracking link to read what it actually passes.
How to use it
- Paste the raw value into Decoded / Raw URL. Encode just the value, such as a search term, not the whole address.
- Click Encode → to produce the percent-encoded form on the right.
- To read an encoded link, paste it on the right and click ← Decode.
- Copy the result and place it after the = sign of the parameter it belongs to.
Worked example
- Input and settings
- café menu?size=large&sugar=2
- Expected result
- caf%C3%A9%20menu%3Fsize%3Dlarge%26sugar%3D2
Limits and common mistakes
- Encoding a complete URL also escapes its :, / and ? characters and breaks the link; encode each parameter value separately.
- Spaces become %20 rather than +; most servers accept both, but some older form handlers only expect +.
- A lone % or an invalid sequence such as %E0%A4 cannot be decoded, and the tool shows an error instead of a guess.
- Percent-encoding is not encryption: tokens and emails in a URL remain readable to anyone who sees it.
