Image Compressor

Try to meet an upload limit using JPEG or WebP. Files stay on your device. Check the measured size and preview before downloading; a target is not guaranteed.

No image selected.

200 KB = 200,000 bytes. We try up to 10 quality levels from 95% down to 10%, keeping the highest tested level that fits. Quality can affect fine detail and text.

Optional pixel limits

Leave both empty to keep original dimensions. If you enter bounds, the image fits inside them without cropping, stretching, or enlarging. Compression never reduces dimensions automatically.

Using Image Compressor

Prepare a still image for an upload form with a file-size limit, measuring the encoded result before you download it.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file and enter your upload limit in decimal KB. For example, 200 KB means 200,000 bytes.
  2. Choose JPEG for an opaque output or WebP to keep transparent pixels. JPEG fills transparency with your chosen background color.
  3. Leave pixel bounds empty to keep dimensions. If the target is not reached, explicitly enter smaller width or height bounds, try the other format, or raise the target.
  4. Read the target status, actual byte count, and dimensions. Inspect text and edges in the preview before downloading; keep the original.

Worked example

Input and settings
A photo for a form with a 200 KB maximum; target 200; JPEG output.
Expected result
A measured 198,500-byte result qualifies. A 205,000-byte result does not, even if it looks small; the tool reports target not reached and offers the smallest tested result.
