Using Image Cropper & Editor
Prepare one image from composition through final export while keeping the original available in the same workspace.
How to use it
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP. Drag a crop or choose a ratio. Numeric coordinates and arrow keys provide a keyboard alternative; Shift moves ten pixels.
- Rotate or flip to adjust composition. Rotation resets the crop to match the new orientation; Undo edit restores earlier crop and transform settings.
- Choose fit to keep the image inside optional bounds, or exact canvas to add background padding. Pixel content is never enlarged. Square and wide presets create padded canvases.
- Choose an output format. JPEG/WebP can optionally try a decimal KB target. Create the download, inspect the final preview and actual bytes, then save.
Worked example
- Input and settings
- A 640 ร 480 image with a centered square crop.
- Expected result
- The crop selects 480 ร 480 pixels. Fitting within 320 ร 320 creates 320 ร 320 pixels. Padding to 1080 ร 1080 keeps the 480 ร 480 image centered on the larger background.
Limits and common mistakes
- Crop removes pixels, fit reduces dimensions, and pad adds a background. None restores lost detail or enlarges the image pixels.
- The selection preview shows the oriented original with a crop overlay. Padding and final encoding appear in the export preview after Create download.
- Coordinates refer to the orientation-corrected, rotated and flipped image. Locked ratios use whole-pixel rounding; editing numeric bounds switches to free selection. Undo edit covers crop and transforms, not all export settings.
- Input limit: 25 MiB. Output-area limit: 16,777,216 pixels. Large sources can still exceed decoding memory; preview and export require browser resources.
- JPEG flattens transparency. Padding uses the chosen solid background. PNG has no quality or target-byte control; JPEG/WebP targets may not be reached.
- Exports always use the original file rather than repeatedly recompressing intermediate results. Still-image output does not guarantee preservation of animation, metadata or color profiles. Clear or leaving the page removes the working image.
