About converting WebP to JPG
A .webp file that will not open in your usual photo software is the usual reason to land here. JPEG is widely supported for photographs, email attachments, and document workflows. Check the receiving serviceβs accepted formats and dimensions before converting.
JPG has no alpha channel. If your WebP contains transparent areas they have to become a solid colour, which is why this page gives you a background colour picker; white is the default because it matches most documents. Without that fill, transparent pixels would come out black.
JPEG output uses lossy compression. The source WebP may be lossy or lossless; JPG encodes the rendered result with lossy compression, so fine detail and sharp edges soften a little. The quality slider controls how much: higher settings request higher quality, but the result depends on your browser and image. Inspect fine text, gradients, and edges before downloading.
The image conversion runs in your browser without uploading your file. Keep the original: this creates a still image and does not promise to preserve animation, metadata, or color profiles.
Using WebP to JPG Converter
Turn a WebP downloaded from a shop or news site into a JPEG you can attach to an email, add to a slideshow, or upload to a service that lists only JPG.
How to use it
- Choose the WebP you saved from the web, or drag it straight from your Downloads folder onto the drop area.
- If the image has transparent parts, choose Background for transparent areas; otherwise leave it at white.
- Keep Quality at 85β90 for photos. Lower values save space but show blocky artifacts in skies and skin tones.
- Optionally limit Max width for email or chat, then check the stats line and click Download.
Worked example
- Input and settings
- product.webp, 1600 Γ 1600, Quality 90, Max width 800
- Expected result
- product.jpg at 800 Γ 800 with a white background behind any transparent areas.
Limits and common mistakes
- The image goes through lossy compression twice, once in the original WebP and again as JPEG, so fine texture softens a little more each time.
- Transparent areas cannot survive; they take the background color you pick.
- Only the first frame of an animated WebP is converted.
- Embedded color profiles are not carried over, so a photo shot in a wide color space can look slightly different in color-managed apps.
